“The region of Bohemia, situated at the foothills of the ore mountains, represents the Western tip of the black triangle of ill repute, the most devastated territory of the European continent, that stretches right out to Saxony and Poland. Josef Koudelka, indefeasible witness of disappearing worlds, delivers us here a masterly work about the responsibility of man towards the environment.” Magnum Photos. – – – – – – – – – It is a beautifully produced book that contains exquisitely-printed panoramas wrapped in a deliberately modest muted brown recycled cardboard wrapper. Bound leporello-style (Accordion fold-out pages attached to cut-out card cover.) with black title label affixed to spine, triangle cutout to front panel revealing the title. Housed in the original recycled card slipcase with original recycled card insert/cover to protect the book in the slipcase. There are 34 captioned black-and-white reproductions of panoramic photos, each measuring 7 x 22 in. This book has been owned since new by Nonpareil Books and stored in a light tight box since. Given it is not shrink wrapped we cannot describe it as new, but it is in ‘nearly new’ outstanding condition, no sunning and no significant marks or wear to speak of – very rare in this condition with original slip case and protector insert “an exquisitely made book” (Parr & Badger II).
