In his portfolio – The Little People of America (1971), Krims received permission to photograph people belonging to a national organization founded by the actor Billy Barty, called “The Little People of America.” Many of the pictures were made at national conventions of the L.P.A, in Oakland, CA, and Atlanta, GA. Krims sought to show that the people he photographed were brave, normal people, having more in common with the Mid-West than the Upper-West-Side, unlike the way the dwarf was portrayed in the history of art or contemporary photographs. – – – – – – – – – First edition boxed set of 24 photographic plates and sheet of text signed by Krims laid into a box with a plate on to cover, this box is number 296 of 4000 copies, plates are in good to very good condition – some have a little foxing, paper hinge holding the lid and top of the box together has split and the box shows wear to the edges, one corner has split, there is a small stain at the bottom.
