Marc Riboud, Christine Arnothy: Women of Japan [£350.00]
An amazingly well preserved and rare because of its small paperback format book investigating the lives of women in Japanese society – a travelogue with interviews and a section of photographs by Marc Riboud of street-shots, women at work and leisure printed in beautiful gravure. Translated by Diana Athill – – – – – – – – – First edition, soft cover with glazed pictorial wraps, in very good/near fine condition which is amazing for its format and age. The binding is very tight and square and it has clearly not been handled very much. There is a slight crease across the top front cover corner, some lite indentations to the covers only noticeable when reflected by light and some creases along the spine area from opening the book, but laminates are fully intact. text pages are slightly tanned from age, but photographic pages are bright and flawless. An exceptional copy.
